AUG 16 10:30AM: The Joy of Canning and Preserving: Pass It On! - Hands On
Available in stock (13)
Canning is more than a technique; it is a profound and treasured tradition, rooted in family and collective creativity. For generations, this shared skill has forged strong bonds and passed down essential food knowledge, connecting us to our heritage.
During this hands-on class, join our canning guru, Brenda Hill, as she shares canning experiences passed down to her, while teaching current practices for water bath canning. Savor the memories while making three delicious preserves to take home and enjoy all season long.
What You Will Create and Take Home:
- Strawberry Basil Jam: A bright, fruity classic with an unexpected herbal twist — sweet strawberries balanced by fresh basil for a jam that's anything but ordinary.
- Peach & Orange Honey Blossom Jam: A sunny, floral blend of juicy peach and citrus, sweetened with honey — a taste of summer preserved in a jar.
- Red Jalapeño Pepper Jelly: A sweet-and-spicy jelly with just the right kick — perfect on crackers with cream cheese or alongside a cheese board.
Students will take home a jar of each recipe made in class, along with the water bath canning knowledge and confidence to keep the tradition going in their own kitchens.
Whether you're new to canning or looking to sharpen your skills, this class is a hands-on celebration of a time-honored tradition — one you'll want to pass on for generations to come.
