Set your teenager up for culinary independence with our Hands-On Teen Knife Skills & Kitchen Fundamentals workshop. Led by James Beard Award-winning author and cooking teacher Chef Cynthia Graubart, this class is specifically designed to transform "kitchen curiosity" into "kitchen confidence."
Precision and safety with a knife are the cornerstones of great cooking, but they are also vital life skills. Chef Cynthia guides students through the "insider secrets" of the professional kitchen, focusing on the mechanics of the perfect slice, dice, and julienne. Beyond the blade, teens will learn essential life skills, including efficient meal prep, kitchen organization, and how to work safely and cleanly.
This is a high-energy, interactive environment where teens put their new skills to immediate use, preparing a variety of seasonal ingredients. Whether they are heading off to college soon or just want to help more with family dinner, this class builds the strong culinary foundation every young cook needs.
What Your Teen Will Learn:
- Safety First: Proper hand placement to ensure maximum control and finger safety.
- The Big Three: Hands-on practice with the three most essential cuts: dicing, slicing, and julienning.
- Kitchen Literacy: How to choose the right knife for the job and the basics of knife care and sharpening.
- Efficiency & Logic: Organizing a workspace (mise en place) to reduce mess and speed up cooking time.
Classes are held at the Ansley Mall Store - 1544 Piedmont Avenue, STE 403-R, Atlanta, GA 30324
